Millions of people living in urban settings across the globe experience nature in their towns and cities, where pockets of vibrant flowers are found against the backdrop of manmade buildings. Lost in Color reflects these experiences through works that feature expressive flowers painted against vivid abstract backgrounds with line-drawn architectures from cities around the world.
This solo exhibition offers a window into Malti B Lee’s international past, working, living and travelling across over 50 countries globally. These works visualize Malti’s memories of cities that she’s visited first-hand. “There’s a story behind each painting,” shares the artist. “Malti’s paintings have a vibrancy and intrigue that draw in audiences. From her choice of colors and subject matter, to the combination of techniques that she employs, her painting voice is distinct and distinguishable”, says DeeDee Hunt, Hunt & Gather Gallery owner.
In a world where there is so much noise, these paintings create the space to transport audiences to a moment somewhere else. Lost in the city. Lost in nature. Lost in Color.
